Just as I was about to make my great comeback the adapter on my laptop has gone out on me, and i’m waiting for a replacement hopefully it will be within the next couple days. I only have internet access through my phone and ps3, I’m using my sister’s laptop to type this briefly. Don’t forget about me I’ll be back soon.

I know I’m jumping the gun, it’s still January and while it has gotten warmer here in Colorado that doesn’t mean a damn thing. It could 50 tomorrow and 22 the day after, but I just can’t get the thought of boat shoes out of my head these past couple weeks. The boat shoe is a classic silhouette, and has been embraced the past few years by the younger set which has caused various companies including Nike and Vans to introduce the style to their Spring/Summer (S/S) collections. Last Year Complex did a top 10 boat shoes of summer and even an article on how to tie them. While it may still be too cold to rock them, I don’t think it too soon to prepare mentally and visually. Jeans, shorts, pants, khaki’s whatever you got boat shoes can handle them. Dressed up, or down in the spring and summer time you can’t go wrong with a pair but of course remember the golden rule NO SOCKS.
A quick history on boat shoes the modern shoe was invented by Paul Sperry in 1935 which is why the Sperry Top Sider is the go to boat shoe followed by Sebago. Think of them as the Pepsi and Coke of boat shoes. Nothing wrong with the classics but as the pics will show you can always grab a Dr.Pepper or Sprite. Now without further ado, hit the jump for pictures of shoes and the people that rock them well. despite some wearing socks >:( Warning, there quite a few pictures not for 56k, assuming you still live in the past. The reemergence of the Polaroid instant camera and film was announced earlier this week, with a sleek design and a price expected to be under $100 I can’t wait to grab one myself.

gripping gripping wood grain

Polaroid film died a while back, but then was reborn with plans to re-release the old instant film cameras and the famous Color 600 instant film. We got our first sneak peek at what the new Polaroid film cameras will look like when they hit the storefronts later this year. It looks like Polaroid will be offering some unique finishes for the new instant shooter, including a wood-grain finish as shown in the mockup above. The new camera will be called the PIC 1000 and should cost less than $100. -Via Photography Bay
Supported by a strategic relationship with Summit Global Group, a longtime Polaroid partner, and The Impossible Project, the manufacturer of classic film for Polaroid film cameras, Polaroid will offer a completely redesigned, modern version of the Polaroid OneStep camera, the PIC 1000. The PIC 1000 will be available in a range of fun colors and use classic Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film to produce the brand’s classic white border instant pictures. The Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film will work with both classic and new Polaroid cameras and will be offered in packs of 10 pictures. The new classic PIC 1000 camera and instant color film will be available at national retailers in 2010. -Polaroid Press Release

I’m a huge fan of Bill Maher’s HBO Show, the new season starts next month so I figured I’d post some of my favorite interviews and panel discussions. Watch Mos Def get paranoid and Cornel West blow your damn mind.

I’ve been on the job hunt the last few days so unfortunately this update will be pretty lackluster but it’s something that has been on my mind especially since I found someone who was selling a poster of the qr code. For those that don’t know what a qr code is, think of it as a barcode that you can scan that links you to websites and other information, very big in Japan as most phone cameras are able to read the codes. Check out the first designer qr code which was made last year with another collaboration between LV and Takashi Murakami.

QR Codes are the bar codes of the future, linking online and physical graphics to websites and multi-media. For the most part, the codes have still maintained an abstract look akin to their predecessors.
A recently released designer QR symbol, produced by Tokyo based creative agency SET is looking to change all that with a stylized remake of the standard code. Mixing design with technological innovation, SET teamed up Takashi Murakami with Louis Vuitton to create a distinctive code featuring one of the artist’s characters and the classic LV pattern. The agency hopes this will add much needed style and character to the bland world of machine readable codes.
