Web Design

last night a ftp saved my blog

As anyone that reads this knows, I’m working on turning this into an actual site and I’ve been reading many a content management tutorial and article yet I didn’t read anything about permalinks. BIG MISTAAAAAKE, its 4:17am here in Colorado, and I’m till up because I thought I knew what I was doing. I did what was in fact said in said in the permalink wiki and put my url in the field and saved it, this caused an .htaccess file to be made and made it so I couldn’t access anything from my blog including my dashboard. Thankfully after many deletes and reuploads (hence being up still) I finally updated my ftp and was able to see the .htaccess which I couldn’t see in my old build. Deleted the file, was finally able to correct my mistake and bring you this cautionary tale. Once again, expect many updates to the site as I learn and read up on this. New theme? quite possibly, I’ve seen quite a few sites that inspired me to once again change it up. Keep coming back, I crave the attention.

CSS??, I vaguely recall this sea ess ess

My good friends, I have this thing called a memory, it often works when I wish to recall past learning. However my memory must like baseball because it seems to think working about 50% of the time is a good thing. I learned basic css in my web design class a couple semesters ago and have since forgotten much of it. So I have decided to do something very simple and that is to go back and relearn it all from the beginning. Do i remember the basics? in fact I do but I’m going to pretend I have unlearned this and start all over, and with that I post a few tutorials for those who are like me to check out, and ask in return post some basic css tutorials that have been helpful for you. Hit the jump to see what I have to offer
